
Install Windows 7 / Vista From USB
This guide will show you how install Microsoft Windows Vista / 7 / Server 2008 from a USB pen / flash drive.
XP User's should use: WinToFlash
This is ideal for systems with NO DVD drive or if you have downloaded an .ISO version of Windows from Microsoft.

Step 1: - Tools Required
- 4 GB+ USB flash drive
- Windows XP, Vista or 7 host OS - The system used for creating the bootable USB
- Windows 7 / Vista DVD or .ISO file
- ImgBurn - Use to create the .ISO file if you only have a Microsoft Vista / 7 Operating System installation disk
- MobaLiveCD Not essential but useful for testing
Step 2: - .ISO File
- In order to make a bootable USB version of Windows Vista / 7 you MUST have or create an .ISO file of the Windows OS you wish to install. This can be done in 2 ways:
- Purchase Windows Vista or 7 as a downloadable .ISO file from Microsoft or
- If you already have a Windows Vista / 7 installation DVD then use ImgBurn to create an .ISO file
- OK now that you have an .ISO file of either Windows Vista / 7
- Install the Windows 7 USB DVD Tool, open it will now be presented with the following screen:

- Locate the Windows 7 / Vista .ISO file on your computer using the Browse button and once done click Next
- Now chose the media type, for this example we want to chose USB device as shown:

- Now insert your USB drive and select it from the drop down menu as shown:

- It is advisable to have an empty USB drive BEFORE proceeding
- Now select Begin copying
- The tool will begin copying the files to the USB drive as shown:

- Should your drive need erased please do so
- Setup will finish creating the bootable USB drive as shown:

- Close the USB DVD Tool
Step 4: - Testing
- OK now we have created the bootable USB drive we can test it BEFORE deploying it to our netbook
- Download MobaLiveCD
- This will allow you to test your USB drive WITHOUT actually installing Windows 7 / Vista as shown:

- Run the program - NO install needed
- Select Run the LiveUSB
- Then select your USB drive then OK
- When prompted to create a hard drive choose No
- Windows 7 / Vista setup will proceed as shown:

- If you see the above you should then be good to go
Step 5: - Installation
- You can then take the USB to your netbook and install
- There are 2 way you can do this, either from the OS on the netbook (XP, Vista etc) or by booting from the USB
- To install from the OS already on the netbook, navigate to the root of the USB drive and double click setup.exe
- Or configure your netbooks BIOS to boot from USB
